The Whistle caller concept - Signature whistles as call-over signals in Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) under human care

Tilde Rylander

Hi and welcome to my webpage!

My name is Tilde, and during the last year I've been working on a project together with the Bottlenose dolphins at Kolmården Zoo in Sweden. In this project I tested whether dolphin signature whistles could be used as individual call-over signals, and if so, if they worked better as such than other biologically irrelevant "trivial" sounds.

Dolphin cognition, communication and behaviour has always been interests of mine, and working with these animals has made me even more certain about how fantastic they really are.

I hope you find this project interesting, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Why do dolphins not eat citrus fruit?

They already have enough vitamin sea!
