Conclusions

  • Spider monkeys have a well-developed sense of smell to discriminate between the ripe and unripe odours of the fruits Leonia cymosa and Couma macrocarpa, as well as the majority of their variations during the ripening process.
  • Spider monkeys may use olfactory cues for food selection.
