The transcription factor’s self and mutual transactivation is analysed. From the results it showed that the ACTYPE element will mediate the transactivation of MYB46 with the promoters which helps in the wood formation in  Populus  but in Arabidopsis  ACTYP element is not present so that results in a non-woody species.

This study suggested the Populus circuit displays enhanced self-perpetuation mechanisms by positive feedback regulation by transcription factor auto regulation and/or multicomponent loops.Such mechanism would result in enhanced expression of wood-biosynthesis target genes in Populus.

In the long term, our studies may allow us to manipulate biosynthesis of wood and of wood components such as lignin or cell wall polysaccharides for enhanced woody biomass production, saccharification potential and material properties.
