Mutants with abnormal metacaspase 9 expression patterns assist in finding upstream actors

Mutants were first screened searching for those with a GFP pattern deviating from that of the reporter line. The screening revealed that the mutants could be divided into two different categories: ectopic expressors and low/no-signal mutants. Both these categories are further described under “Mutant categories” found in the menu to the left.

In order to identify which genes that were controlling the expression of metacaspase 9 the mutations in the different mutant lineages had to be located. This was done through mapping and deep sequencing which resulted in candidate genes possibly controlling the expression of metacaspase 9. More information on this matter can be found under “Locating mutations” in the menu to the left.
