Methods - A summary

For a more detailed description of the methods, please look at the subpages.

Behavior

In two different setups the activity of the isopods was measured with and without cues from either damselfly larvae or perch.

Size

Groups of isopods were subjected to predation from perch or damselfly larvae in different substrate (see Fig 1). Each group consisted of only one ecotype. The mean size in each group was examined befor and after the predation trial.

Fig 1. A diagram over what kind of predation the isopods were subjected to and in what kind of substrate (stonewort, reed and no substrate).
