TFYA47 Surfaces and interfaces

The course provides a general introduction to surfaces; their structure and physical-chemical properties, and interfaces between solids and organic materials or liquids. This includes hard surfaces (metals, dielectrics), soft matter surfaces (polymers and molecular films), free liquid surfaces, and their interfaces. The course introduces analytical techniques for studies of surfaces, interfaces and thin films, and also applications, primarily such which are of relevance to biology or biomedicine.

The teaching is organized in lectures, exercise classes , and laboratory exercises. The lectures cover the theoretical background, while the classes are used for solving problems, and requires active participation of the students under the supervision of the assistant.
