Results

Only the skunk odourant, 3-methyl-1-butanethiol (3-M-1-BE), elicited a significant avoidance. Nevertheless, this only occured at a concentration a factor of 100 above the olfactory detection threshold of mice.

No other significant avoidance was shown.

In 11 out of 15 cases, a significant decline of general activity could be observed over the number of test sessions.

Below you can see the exemple of the fox odourant (Methyl-2-phenylethyl sulphide) at a factor of 1000 above the olfactory detection threshold.
