Summary of Urban Forsberg's activities


I am currently working on developing nitride based materials. During the last 10 years the focus have been on HEMT structures for high power and high frequency applications. This has been done in close collaboration with European industries and universities.  The focus is to understand how material properties influences the final device performance. Currently I am working on trying to understand how carbon and iron is incorporated in the GaN lattice. Carbon is an impurity that, in certain concentrations, can create a semi-insulating (SI) GaN layer. The SI properties are crucial for the design of a HEMT device.

Another topic is to grow indium related compounds for THz applications. This is a challenging topic since it involves new type of precursors and low temperature growth process. It also involves a lot of development of the actual growth chamber itself.

My research is performed in close collaboration with my collegues, Prof. Erik Janzén, Dr. Örjan Danielsson, Dr. Henrik Pedersen, Dr. Chih-Wei Hsu and Dr. Jr-Tai Chen.

I also have a close collaboration with Prof. Niklas Rorsman at Chalmers, Gothenburg.
