Summary of Olle Kordina's activities


I am currently focusing on projects that aim to improve the material quality for power components of SiC. The bulk of this work is to study epitaxial processes performed using different chemistries often looking at the similarities and differences between the standard process using silane and propane as precursors and the chlorinated chemistry which enables very high growth rates. The possibilities that have presented themselves when using the chlorinated chemistry has inspired a new design of crystal growth reactor with capacity to produce crystals with extremely low dislocation densities. This reactor will also be used to produce isotope enriched SiC material which has some very interesting scientific and industrial properties. A central point in this study is to establish how much greater the thermal conductivity is in isotope enriched SiC material which is of high importance for the industry.
