Summary of Chih-Wei Hsu's activities

Research

My research activities involve the fabrication and optical characterization of III-nitride quantum- and nano-structures, such as nanowires, quantum dots. The main fabrication technique employed is metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). There is plenty of room you can play with when materials go small. Concerning the optical properties, I am interested in surface-induced optical properties of nanowires as well as peculiar emission properties of quantum dots. The former one may act as optical sensor to bio-molecular by monitoring the changes of optical properties induced by the surface conditions, while the later may act as photon sources for quantum information applications by emitting photons with specific energies, polarization- and time-correlations. 

My current work is to explore and to improve the electrical properties of III-nitride-based high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) with various designs.
