Summary of Chao Xia's activities

Research

Recently, great attention has been attracted by graphene, one single layer of graphite. Numerous investigations have been carried out on graphene due to its outstanding electronic and transport properties. Epitaxial graphene grown on silicon carbide (SiC) substrates by thermal graphitization is regarded as one of the most promising routes for future graphene fabrication for electron device applications. Graphene grown on Si-face and C-face SiC have been reported to have different structures. We foucs on the surface functionlization of graphene epitaxial grown on SiC. Electronic property of graphene can be effectively tuned in this way.
